Mahinda Rajapakse need not be ousted as appointment is illegal - Jayampathi

United National Party Parliamentarian and Presidents Counsel Jayampathy Wickramaratne says steps need not be taken to remove Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister as his appointment is not legal.

Wickramaratne said Mahinda Rajapaksa’s appointment as Prime Minister is against the Constitution.

Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe speaking at a media breifing yesterday said a No-Confidence Motion should be tabled against Mahinda Rajapaksa in order to remove him as Prime Minister.

However MP Jayampathy Wickramaratne states that as Rajapakse’s appointment is illegitimate there is reason to remove him or table a No-Confidence Motion.
