The Parliament session chaired by the Deputy Speaker commenced at 1 pm and then it was adjourned after informing all parties to nominate representatives to appoint a select committee for the Parliament.

In response Mangala Samaraweera said that currently there is no government. S.B. Dissanayake stated that a select committee cannot be appointed without a government, and therefore, a committee must be appointed recognizing his party as the government.
