Referring to MR as PM violates constitution - Mangala

Continuing to refer to MP Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime minister through media violates the constitution, says MP Mangala Samaraweera.

In a statement, he adds that it is also an unethical and a blatantly illegal move.

Speaking in parliament today (15), Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said he has decided not to recognise the new cabinet or Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister in Parliament as the latter lost a no-confidence vote yesterday.

In this context, referring to MPs as Prime minister or minister is a grave offence says MP Samaraweera, adding that legal action would be sought against those who deliberately and continuously continue to engage in this malpractice.
