SLFP not allying with racist parties

The SLFP will not ally with racist parties that try to push Sri Lanka towards war once again, says the party’s spokesman, minister Dilan Perera.

He accuses Wimal Weerawansa’s NFF and Pivithuru Hela Urumaya of Udaya Gammanpila of engaging in racist politics.

The SLFP will definitely not form alliances with those two parties, which are trying to take the country to racism and create a bloodbath once again, he told the media in Colombo.

MPs of those two parties were elected from SLFP votes, he noted, adding that their parties do not have any public recognition.

New party?

Meanwhile, Weerawansa said yesterday a new political front would definitely be formed at the request of SLFP activists.

As long as the leadership of the party remains under president Maithripala Sirisena, the SLFP nor its allies will be able to perform its true role, he said.

Therefore, a new political front should be formed under Mahinda Rajapaksa, said Weerawansa.

Meanwhile, senior SLFP member Anura Priyadarshana Yapa points out that neither side will benefit from a new political alliance.

A party belongs not to one individual, but to the entire people, he added.
