President holds a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister

President Maithripala Sirisena has held a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Presidential Media Unit said that during the telephone conversation discussion had been held regarding Sri Lanka’s current development activities.

On this occasion the Indian Prime Minister had told the President that India would provide the support necessary for Sri Lanka’s prosperity and development on any occasion.

On this occasion the Indian Prime Minister had told the President that steps should be taken in the future as well to continue the strong friendship and warm cordiality prevalent between Sri Lanka and India.

The Indian Prime Minister had said further that he was pleased with Sri Lankan President’s ability to hold warm friendly relationships with neighbouring States as well as with the rest of the countries of the world.

On this occasion the President had praised the continuous support India offers to Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, a top level discussion will be held between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 20th this month.

The Prime Minister’s office said that during the tour, the Prime Minister was also scheduled to meet senior Indian politicians including Foreign Minister Sushmaa Swaraaj and Home Minister Raajanaath Singh.
